Over the years I've noticed a pattern of incorrect parts listed in all of the parts catalogs that are typically used by auto parts shops and by online parts stores. Some examples are:
Door handles
Clutch cables
Radiators
Accelerator cables
Steering parts
The door handle is an excellent example. If you search online, particularly on eBay, you'll see lots which take a push / pull rod. However, my 1981 Chevette has a handle which has a hook or sorts which takes the end of a cable. I cannot find any listing with regular parts listings for the correct handle. After visiting a GM dealer and getting two parts numbers, I figured out that this one must be the proper one:

So I wonder if other people have run in to things like this, and whether it'd be worthwhile to find a database of proper GM parts which we can all share. Thoughts? Where do you get your proper part numbers?
