The transmission mount on the newer transmission is much more robust. The original transmission mount had threads going straight in to not very thick aluminum, so it had "dissolved" on the first two transmissions (the car has 2/3 of a million miles on it, so this is the third transmission), so I'm glad to have done the work because there's less noise and vibration now. The old mount can be seen in the second picture below.
