I went through the oil leak trial last year on my chevette. Both the front main seal and the camshaft seal were hardened with age. However, looking back, the seals were easy to replace. The hard part was getting the gasket for the front of the crankcase that seals against the front part of the oil pan to stay in place while you fit the cover over the main seal. My solution was to cut my own gasket in one piece instead of the two piece operation that is standard. I just bent the gasket around the corner where the oil pan and cover meet and it stayed in place and didn't leak. I hope this helps you. Darrel
