Thanks for the update, Judith, and for all that you do to keep this going for the community.
We enjoyed your somewhat comical description. 😁 Previous Message
Just had confirmation from Save On that our order will be coming on Friday, April 10. (It was touch-and-go as they hadn't been sure that they had enough staff to shop our large order.)
Pick up time will be 3:00 pm or later. Your boxes will be labeled with your name and left on the table in the freight shed. Please stay clear of the sorting area and volunteers if you arrive before your order is ready. Also, please avoid chatting with us as it confuses an already challenging attention process. Thanks!
Future orders:
We are moving to a weekly shopping schedule to help spread the volume. You may want to do a large shop on alternate weeks and top up on perishables in the in-between weeks.
If you add items in the "Other" section, things that are not already on the order list, please research them on the Save On website and provide me with a detailed description, size and price. This will save me a lot of time!
Shortages continue for some products. eg. The toilet paper supply chain has been disrupted because so few bodies are pooing at work and using their work place's commercial grade T.P.- Instead they are at home, using 50% more domestic grade paper than normal. The commercial grade T.P. is produced and marketed by different companies than those already tied into the supermarket supply system so we cannot buy commercial grade there. Similar problems afflict other product categories because companies that supply restaurants with all the food we are no longer eating, are often not the companies who supply grocery stores. It will take a while to get the supply chain sorted out.
If you are not already receiving the grocery emails and would like to, or if you would like to be dropped from the mailing list, let me know. Thanks!
