heres and issue that seems far from our back yards but should resonate with all British Columbians, unfortunately it seems that the story isnt reaching people. Kristin Henry is on her 13th day of Hunger Strike to Stop Site C Dam. even the smallest investigation into this project will show you its not needed now or ever. Agricultural lands, wildlife habitat and historical sites will all be decimated to create (clean??) power to supply more oil and gas development. not to mention Hunting and fishing grounds of natives and non natives alike. BC Hydro has failed to show demand for this power, as LNG prices are falling around the world due to global over-supply, and more and more people are or will be going off grid in the next 10 years before this dam is completed. Anyways, i write to this community in desperation and to ask those who have the time to write a letter of concern to our politicians. Catherine Mckenna, Justin Trudeau, Jody-Wilson Raybould, Christy Clark!?... all these peoples contacts are readily available and everyday they are being made more and more aware of this destructive mega-dam. We are so so lucky to have independence over our systems here, not to be beholden to a corrupt crown corp like BC Hydro that would even consider the kind of destruction they are proposing and currently engaged in. We all are aware of the potential of renewable energy and the way the world is going, especially with new battery technology. Its is my view that very soon every new house will be on its own micro-system and high demand power for industry could come from the dams that are already in place.
If for no other reason than to draw attention to this bright young woman who has clearly drawn the line, please raise your voice.
