I once made the trip back there but that was a long time ago, I have since been back to Hong Kong after the handover and was unable to get there. It is now mainly a sewage treatment plant and I am not sure if I want to go there anymore. My wife and I lived for 2 1/2 years in one of the two a houses at 'Wuthering Heights', those houses are still there.
As Colin says, the view of the island requires a camera with a good lens as the height of the wall on the bridge is too high to see the island from a car so maybe a trip to the airport by bus would offer a better view.
