I have bumped into this site......I was lucky enough to be posted to Stonecutters Island where I lived for 3 years 1990-1993 and witnessed many of the changes that took place towards handover to PRC. In spite of the new developments, the historical elements, buildings, gun emplacements and other military and social features of the island were well maintained right up to handover. I have returned to Stonecutters 3 times (2002, 2005 and 2008) since my posting home and am lucky enough to have been invited to the Chinese New Years Dinner of the Hong Kong Ex Servicemen's Association in London on Sunday (8 Feb 09) where doubtless much more cud will be chewed in the Year of the Ox, and many happy memories brought back into the light.
