There's another sorta similar way of stacking from the old world/europe called the holzhausen. It's a little more elaborate, but does the same, a lot more wood stacked in a smaller footprint. (do an image search)I have not tried one yet. I do mine on pallets, pallets over railroad ties on the ground, three rows wide. I can just squeeze a cord every two pallets if I stack cool, outside all leaning in and the middle bone flat.
