HAHAHAHAHA
You get as much heat as the candle puts out, clay pots or not..but..what happens is the clay pots act as thermal mass, absorb and hold some heat, then start radiating the heat. It slows down the fast rise to the ceiling and dilution in the room.
There's another emergency heat source you can take advantage of..food! You are are your own best heat source, it is just maintaining it properly. In an emergency situation, set up a little tent in your warmest room, wear layered clothes, and hang out in the tent as much as possible. If you can get your mattress in there, or some other cushions, so much the better..
This is a double insulating heat containment setup. No tent, use a table, throw blankets or sheets over it, or the back of a chair or couch etc. Improvise with what ya gots...Save the candles and claypot action for warming up food in the room, eat it, save the candle then, go back inside the interior tent.
This works, I have done it as a test. Much warmer in the little cobjob tent than just sitting in the cold room. Also better for keeping your water stash from totally freezing solid.
I mean, ya, you can smash ice with a hammer and suck on frozen ice chunks, but it is much less shock to your body to just drink warm not cold water during a stress filled emergency "man, it's freeking cold"! time.
When on my "big walk" water stayed inside my clothes near my body to stay liquid during cold weather..
