Damage in the area wasn't bad, considering, although I hear to the north of us was worse. Winds were 40-80 mph and my whole place was shaking. I think lightning struck one of the pine trees along the edge of this property and blew the top half off of it, but thankfully it didn't land on the house. During the storms coming through Missouri, Arkansas, Illinois, KY, etc. it was reported that there were thousands and thousands of lightning strikes.
The other day I was telling the young couple who recently moved in next door that they need to have emergency supplies in case something like this happens. After it hit, I found out they didn't even have a flashlight, a candle, nothing. Lent them a flashlight and gave them a candle to use last night. I hope this incident makes them think.
