Heck, according to the article, small research reactors are only required to carry 250 grand insurance! I have had a lot more than that just to paint a house! Some of my online friends who do tree work carry 3-5 million liability insurance. And a regular generic size nuke plant is only required to carry 300 million (and still be able to tap into the pool), but even that seems quite a joke amount today considering how fast mega damages can add up.
just sayin'
we've had earthquakes that reversed the course of the mississippi temporarily, I would imagine there could be an "inland tsunami" from such an event with a quake that size, now think how many of our nuke plants are on rivers...

I just...ain't seeing a lot of liability insurance needed if say someone's solar panel rig blows down in a storm, or even one of those big wind towers falls over in a empty field out in midbraskaboonies someplace.
I dunno, but fission plants give me the buckwheats...of course I am no big giant fan of coal belching plants either...
..ain't no real great choices it appears
