Some traditions of the church observe the Christian Year. Others don't. It's a matter of choice and there is no right or wrong. Today 06 January is traditionally the Feast of the Holy Epiphany, the Manifestation of Christ to the Gentiles, remembering the visitation of the Magi (aka the Wise Men) to the infant Christ.
