I only had a few tasks in mind for tonight's play session. At first, I actually sailed away from the Fortress where my sister was still being held as a prisoner. That was to get some pictures out of my camera (I mean, "pictobox") memory and then start the collection of figures. I did come back (to the figurine island) a few days later, and, honestly, I'd almost rather have the pictures themselves in a special gallery. That's the weird thing with this sidequest. The guy who carves the figures basically "deletes" that picture from your album, meaning that you'd need to be taking doubles of your favorite shots to save them - which means fewer open slots for even more pictures! I've been posting the ones I really like to Miiverse or sending them out in Tingle bottles, but I think I'd only see Tingle bottles from Rick, if they exist (Friends only option). The actual figures are kind of neat. I'd say the Smash Brothers ones are bigger and a little more detailed. Maybe it also depends whether you like that character or not? One of the minibosses actually looked MORE detailed in statue form. One statue was of multiple characters, which sort of "spoiled" for me that they don't all look the same.
In the actual Fortress (does it count as a dungeon?), I felt like it wasn't that interesting to visit a second time, other than noticing the Sheikah or Gerudo symbol that I read about in some Zelda wikis, and not really knowing what the drawings were in another room. You have to clear these gaps on the second floor, and it must've taken me half an hour to figure out, "DUH! I can glide across them now!" The first time, it was all about ropes, because the glider was in the forest dungeon, and I wasn't allowed to sail there yet. The new item didn't feel that useful, because all you can really do is pound down these razor wire barriers, and they keep popping back up once you leave the room. It played a cool role in beating up the boss, though. The only thing I would've changed there was how the camera got stuck behind a wall of the arena, so I didn't see that final blow landing on this big rooster with glowing eyes.
I think I realize now why some of the bosses move a little slowly? Either because it's a game they wanted kids to play, and/or to let you snap a picture? I've enjoyed EVERY boss fight, and some of the minibosses have looked great as well, despite how I haven't been losing all my health or needing a long time to figure out the attack patterns. I mean, with the rooster, he kind of takes the actions that give you an opening to land your attacks. It's pretty neat how I'm still seeing places to use an item from the first and second dungeons, but after a while, how are you supposed to keep rotating between all the items you've collected to this point in the game?
After that, you finally talk to Ganondorf (it should've happened on the first trip, IMO). Despite how I had been spoiled about Tetra's identity before playing the game, they still managed to surprise me in that part of the story based on Tetra's reactions to the developing plot. I liked how other characters came to get involved in rescuing you. I really wanted to hurt Ganondorf for putting Tetra in a chokehold.
You end up back at the Tower, and it's disappointing how you still can't go anywhere deeper into Hyrule. This castle is AWESOME to look at, but you're only there to basically show Tetra a room in the basement, and then she gets sealed in that place, because, "It's too dangerous." Give me a break! She was a pirate for how many years? I don't think Nintendo are trying to be sexist, and I'm actually more attracted to someone who would work around home and raise kids than a woman who tries to compete against a group of men. There's just something about this series of games where I wish you could temporarily follow Zelda's story, or give her a bigger role.
I kind of knew that my boat had another identity. It didn't make sense how the boat was outside the castle, and then in another form, and then kind of acting like a ghost, and then you find the boat again.
Now, they just make it sound like you need to find the triforce to reach the final dungeon. Already?
After that, I only had time to feed the fish and officially mark down the ice place, and the weird Shark Island, and then Diamond Steppe. I doubt I can even reach Diamond Steppe without a hookshot. I have two more squares to map in the top 14 sections, and then, the middle is mostly unmapped. I already know that one place is Tower of the Gods, and I've been to all three triangle islands. I saw Tingle's Tower a few times. Two more must be fairies.
Oh, yeah! I even fought a Big Octo, which felt like they gave you forever to shoot each eye with two arrows. The "problem" was how I wasn't TRYING to start battling him, and I didn't know how it triggered that battle. There was a cyclone coming near me, and I was sailing away from it.
I was on the way "home" and landed when I had to save and quit for tonight. I'll probably talk to my sister and take all those pictures for the gallery before I sail back to the top of the map and work on the next few tasks.
This has just been a FUN game. I know it felt like they left out a few things (based on how not many islands have more than one or two "people" once you're used to Outset, Windfall, and Dragon Roost), and I hope the next part doesn't feel incomplete with just TWO dungeons before possibly being able to reach the castle again. You can just tell how much love and thought they put into these cutscenes, and even making every boss memorable. I mean, not ONE has let me down yet.
