I've been to New York City before, but it was usually few visits and far between. Until recently, I couldn't even picture the geography. On a map, it seems like just a few islands all linked together. Staten island would be in the Southwest corner. I was just there last week at a funeral home, and it looked like another part of New Jersey (strip malls, main streets with storefronts, no skyscrapers). Of course, we barely drove beyond the bridge that gets you to the island.
When they show pictures of a "New York" skyline on TV, I'm pretty sure it's Manhattan 99% of the time. That should be the more Northwest island that's pretty small, but packed with buildings and people. The U. S. Open (tennis tournament) isn't played there, but they keep showing you pictures of Manhattan.
If you're driving East through NJ and you keep going, you'll either get to Staten Island (central NJ, above The Shore) or Manhattan (probably linked to Jersey City, Hoboken, East Rutherford, Newark, Paterson).
The Yankees should play in The Bronx. That's more East than Manhattan, but still far North and kind of central to the city as a whole. If you go too far North or East of The Bronx, it looks like you'll end up in Connecticut. Brooklyn should be the big central part of the city. I think it's on the western tip of Long Island, actually. The majority of Long Island isn't NYC at all. Queens is on that island, too, in the area that's as far East as you can go in the City.
Anyway, I'm not sure why it seems hard to find TV shows about 9/11/2001. Either that, or some networks might wait until "primetime" (even with today being a weekend?). I saw one show with footage that felt new to me, probably since it started from AFTER everything came down. It sounds morbid to me, but, when that second plane hits, I'm trying to figure out the physics of why the plane seems to "disappear" into the wall of the tower. The tower would hardly be moving, compared to a plane that's heavy and moving fast. There's a fireball from all the fuel. I don't know if that fire would've instantly burned all the bodies of the passengers or if any of them could've survived the impact. They only showed one wheel on the ground that may have fallen off the plane. The metal parts wouldn't really burn or be able to melt.
With the hijackers, I understand how Islam hates the way American culture has lots of sexuality in music, movies, or TV. Well then, why were some of the hijackers going to Las Vegas to gamble, ordering porn in the hotel room, or asking about the price of prostitutes? They didn't care about hypocrisy, because they knew the result of their mission? It hardly sounded like it was difficult for them to move around, either. They had been flying (the Las Vegas trip) or using the public library for Internet access.
I think I already saw the interview with George W. Bush that's playing. He went from Florida, to Louisiana, to Nebraska, ... When was he in D. C.? Was he then making his speech with the megaphone on the 11th? If you've ever been to D. C., it's supposed to be a really secure place. We've spent the night on the patio of the Capitol a few times. There are always armed guards. One woman from our church DIED near the Capitol, but the purpose of someone else telling that story was how quickly an ambulance got there. I don't think regular cars are getting anywhere near the important buildings, because there are metal barriers that come up from the road. They remind me of the front of a snowplow or the shovel on a bulldozer.
That particular day, it's hard to remember if I did much besides watch the TV. My mom woke me up by calling on the phone and saying there was something important happening. Remember Lisa Kane/Whitsel? I know I was typing her an e-mail when the building collapsed. College may not have been in session. I didn't even try driving into Newark. Then I dropped out completely, but that was for other reasons.
How do current politics take 9/11 into account? I'm offended by stuff that Trump says. Then he'll also claim that he'll finally let religious groups talk about the government without losing their tax-exempt status. Remember Rev. Jeremiah Wright? In my mind, he's a racist, if you read his public statements. The fact that he married Pres. Obama and Michelle, plus knew them for up to 20 years didn't seem to bother anyone. Granted, if Obama ever spoke that way in public, it might be different. How is Trump a "racist" for wanting a physical barrier on the border? What's racist about trying to kick out the people who've already committed crimes or are hiding in stupid sanctuary cities? The only intelligent things I hear about "sanctuary cities" would be a hypothetical situation where an "undocumented" person gets victimized by someone else. They don't want to get deported by the police for reporting that crime, so they just stay quiet? If you want to know who is coming in, and that they're not from Syria or a place that trains terrorists, what's bad about not letting them through? It just seems like "logic."
There's also the 50th anniversary "Star Trek" marathon on BBC, but that's not really on topic. I get confused at how people can take that show seriously, or how naive they are in trying to solve problems.
