Today seems like a good day, unless I make some MMA picks. I had Serena winning Wimbledon. I mean, it was her 7th singles title at Wimbledon. She was the defending champion from 2015. Her serve is ridiculous on a grass court. If you watched the last game of the match, Kerber was only able to return ONE serve out of four.
In baseball, I think I just took advantage of two last place teams. You were able to pick the White Sox at home, hosting the Braves. It's weird how that interleague play from different divisions is happening all year long. The Dodgers were at home against the Padres (division "rival"), and I think they barely won 4-3.
With the streak game, I don't think all of the people watch those sports (it ranges from cricket, to the English Premier league [when they're in season], and then MLS or trying to qualify for the Olympics in track events). I have no idea why a large NEGATIVE number is supposedly "good" odds, and the higher the positive number, people think it's like the odds of winning the lottery.
I only saw the four or five MMA matches that were on FS1 before they switched to pay-per-view. I'm pretty sure ALL of them went to a judges' decision. The winner was usually who I had thought, but only once I figured out what they look for in a fight. One match was a Spanish guy who wanted to grapple on the ground against an American who is good at karate and seemed to be the better boxer. The first round, I would've given it to the karate guy/boxer for those strikes. By the second round, they were just on the ground, and it looked like the Spanish guy was going for an "arm bar" submission. That actually looked like the other guy's arm was going to break or get dislocated, but he somehow ROLLED out of it. In the third round, I wouldn't know how to score them. The Spanish fighter wanted to grapple on the ground again, and the American was defending by hitting back with some elbows that seemed to draw blood.
There were two women where the #3 ranked fighter was -200 or more in the odds (supposedly a big favorite). She hadn't even fought for over a year, so how do they make the odds? That was almost three full rounds of hugging each other (the opponent was ranked #5). It mostly looked like #5 had a better position in the second and third rounds, but wasn't even close to forcing a submission. She did something called the "triangle," and the other woman just couldn't get free again. That seemed to be the main difference in winning the decision 29-28.
I guess there's probably a reason those fights are only "prelims" and available on cable? That #3 woman had beaten BOTH girls who are fighting in the main event, but she lost to Ronda Rousey in 13, 14, 15, or 16 seconds (I'm not sure why there's such a discrepancy in that stat).
The second to last fight has Brock Lesnar, but I'm not sure how they figured out those odds. Lesnar is 5-3, with no fights for several years. The opponent is listed with a 12-10-1 record. People on the message board of that selection call him fat and needing better stamina.
Basically, stay away from a sport I barely understand? I'd be risking a "W3." The person at the top of the leaderboard just got stopped at a W25 or W26 by picking the Blue Jays in their loss. If I ever got to a W10, I'd probably be amazed. I just don't think I have the impulsive personality to be good at what seems like a free version of gambling.
