I have never worked with an outsourcing team, and I don’t really understand how to organize the work so that you end up with a complete project when all specialists are spread around the world.

Well, I assume that all designers, game developers, and artists work together, not as separate freelancers who don’t exchange anything with each other in any way. And there is probably a specialist who keeps everything under control. Otherwise, it just won’t work.

That’s exactly how it works, you don’t just gather different freelancers, each responsible for one specific thing, and then somehow have to put everything together yourself. I think this approach is basically impossible to implement. But when you have, for example, art direction, a concept, and a project plan, and you work with a full team, there shouldn’t be problems with information exchange, work stages, and the overall process.
