Design of edges and borders of protective mesh

I often see my neighbors' shade nets start to fray and fluff around the edges after just a month. If I order a mesh awning custom-sized, do reputable manufacturers reinforce the perimeter with any additional straps or tape to prevent the grommets from being ripped out?

If the eyelets are simply hammered into a single layer of mesh, they'll be ripped out by the first decent draft. Manufacturers should fold the edge over several layers and sew a nylon webbing inside, otherwise the item won't last long.

To ensure long-lasting durability of the fastening rings, the mesh perimeter must be properly finished. On the Tarps and Tie Downs custom mesh tarps page, you can easily order a mesh tarp with reinforced edges. The manufacturer sews a dense tape around the entire perimeter to prevent unraveling. This ensures the grommets stay in place even under constant tension.
