What helped me was stopping trying to understand everything at once and just testing small setups. When I was experimenting with different node-based tools, I ended up trying simplynode.io just to see how requests are handled in a simpler environment. Seeing it in action made the whole idea of proxy routing much easier to understand compared to reading guides alone.

At first I thought it would be just “connect and use”, but everything around routing, nodes, and requests made it feel more like infrastructure work than a simple tool.
