What helps agronomists and agriculture specialists increase yield

What helps agronomists and agriculture specialists increase yield and keep track of how crops grow and develop in general?

Actually, this is an area that really interests me, because I can imagine how to increase yield, say, in a small garden in my parents' backyard. Even then, it doesn’t always work out. Weather conditions, forgetting to water, pests and insects can really affect it. And if the scale reaches huge fields, I can't even imagine how and what can be controlled there.

And yet, it’s controlled. This is the difficulty of the work of great specialists. Not caring about the scale, but making sure to keep everything under control and take action when and where it’s really needed.

Until I started looking into it, and had to do it as part of a university program and research, I also thought it was all some kind of magic. The more you dig into it, the more you realize that it’s not magic at all, just accurate data based on which all the work is done. I think that now, with the advent of technology and satellite data, it’s become easier to control things. Read more about NDVI explained by EOS, for example. The index shows the condition of vegetation. Instead of fertilizing and watering the entire field, you can find a specific area that needs it and fertilize/water only there. And that’s just one of the tools that can help achieve maximum yield, avoid and prevent crises.
