Link: make friends on cruise
I’ve noticed that travelers approach this differently. Some are naturally outgoing and can quickly make friends on cruise experiences by joining activities, chatting at dinner tables, or participating in excursions. Others—especially solo travelers or those traveling with family—may find it harder to break the ice or meet people with similar interests.
What’s interesting is that most people do want to connect. They want real conversations, shared experiences, and maybe even friendships that last beyond the trip. The challenge is that trying to make friends on cruise ships often depends on timing, chance encounters, and stepping out of your comfort zone in a limited window of time.
That’s where I started thinking differently.
Instead of waiting until the cruise begins, what if people had a way to connect beforehand? Imagine knowing a few people before boarding—others who share your travel style, interests, or even similar family dynamics. It could make it much easier to make friends on cruise journeys because the first introduction has already happened.
This idea led me to create Seaya.io, built around helping travelers connect in advance. The goal isn’t to replace the natural social experience of cruising, but to make it easier for those who want a smoother way to meet others.
At the same time, I understand that not everyone wants to plan their social experience. Some people enjoy the spontaneity of meeting new faces onboard and letting things unfold naturally.
So I’m curious—what works best for you?
Do you prefer to make friends on cruise trips organically once you’re there, or would you rather have a few connections in place before the journey even starts?
