Coral reefs, often called the “rainforests of the sea,” are home to roughly 25% of all marine species. Beyond supporting marine biodiversity, they play a vital role in tourism, food security, and local livelihoods. In Indonesia, coral reefs also act as natural barriers, protecting coastal communities from storm surges and erosion.
