Branch River run this weekend

Looks like the Branch is at 4', 450 cfs - I've run it lower.

Anyone interesteed in a run tomorrow or Sunday. Both days I'd have to be home by 3:00, so meet at 9:30, launch at 10:00.

Looks like Sunday works better for most people - including me. How about 9:30 at the dam in Harrisville. Hopefully we won't lose it - looks like its dropping. We may need an alternate plan, but I definitely want to paddle Sunday.

Ran it today with the other Andy. Lots of downed trees in the first section before the dam but nothing that we couldn't get over, under, or around. All were obvious and in the calm sections. All the major rapids were clear of debris.

Also saw a ton of wildlife today. Actually had 3 deer cross the river about 20-30 yards in front of us. Was pretty darn cool.

I'll be there at 9:30 - if nowone shows up, I may go upstream, or play under the bridge.

Hey - what's with the lock on the gate and the no trespassing sign at the dam in Harrisville.

I ended up going up to the fishing area and paddling up the Nipmuc River. Once you get past the beaver dams its really pretty. Is there a put-in upstream somewhere so you can paddle down. At a higher water level - say 5 feet - that would be a fun run.

Erik, The Nipmuc from the beginning - On Brook Road is one of the sweetest little runs around. You feel absolutely in a remote area. I do every time it's up - 4.5 of higher on the Nipmuc Gauge. It's 35 min run to my house and then another 20 or so to the traditional Nipmuc paddle up stream. I live at the perfect spot on the river - it's as far as you can paddle up to when the level is high enough. There are several trees (massive ones) that need removal up top - I walk the river from top down and clear it with the chainsaw every year. The Beavers went up stream and made massive dams - they haven't been there in the past five or so years. You have to ride it with me when it's going. I do multiple loops to my house. Then there's always the Clear Canyon - that never changes - always fun to do loops in there.

I'll do it - absolutely - its very pretty once you get out of the swampy section at the bottom. There is some chainsaw work to do in the woods below the gage.

Did I run the Clear Canyon with you?

if you went up to the gauge - you might have seen a path - that goes up to my place! I'll clear it all in early spring. Need a new chainsaw, busted it about two weeks ago clearing mountain bike trails.
Tom Canning was the only guy down with me from RICKA It's a gem, from the gauge up it's quick water class one, scenic and crystal clear.
