Dryway - Sept 4/5/or maybe 6th

Tom C. and myself would like to do a dryway run before it's all gone, the first weekend in Sept. Great warm up for the West Fest (Labor day 3 day weekend) Is anyone interested in perhaps a camping weekend to get in two days? Check out a great youtube video of the dryway. Erik, Budz and Jim S, (it might have been Jim!)the canoe guy should inspire you!

Erik, the releases have been lower due to the drought, it's just one section at a time. Not much harder than the West - and there is no right-in-your-face Initiation Rapid like the West - you get to warm up on easy stuff.

Just because I've rolled a couple of times in barely class II, doesn't necessarily mean that I "have my roll" hahaha. Its a start, but my roll needs a lot more work before its going to be effective on something like the Dryway.

Dryway is on my goal list for next year. I think I still need a lot more work in class III before I step it up. No interest in trying it before I'm ready. If I'm going to do it, I want to do it right.

Paul, do you know when the West release is? I'd like to avoid missing it this year but need to plan my vacation.

Jeff - Sept 25., if it still goes! The release is early - until depleted, - we'd leave early, try to get in 2 runs. I believe Erik is planning on going again. The portage is unbearable, the first rapid is in your face, then the rest isn't so bad. The infamous Dumplings, are tough because if the S bend.

I can't paddle this weekend, but I do hope to paddle New Boston on the 18th, and the West on the 25th (assuming there is water). New Boston releases again on 10/2-3.
