Not the same river - it was at 1200 today - same level I did it pre Irene - More waves, but a lot more boney (even at 1200). I think you'd literally have to walk in the river at the usual 700 or even 900 flows! The Gap is only a left hand run - giant boulders on the right and it's a good 3+ at least at this flow. The put-in has a bigger rapid as well - I'd say a 2+ if you hit it. Went with a new guy (swam right at the put-in rapid) and a 25 yr old 30' water fall dropper (he did that in NZ)- very skilled! Complete 360 front flips! Road washed out in two locations. Still a good showing, despite the constant unrelenting rains. And no heat in my truck now! |
