Hello Hilary. I've spent a long time wrestling with the ancestry of John Bagnell and Anne. I've seen claims that he is the son of Col Thomas Bagenal (which would link him to his brother, the very notable Sir Nicholas etc) but according to Peerage records, Col. Thomas had no children. But then I have Clan Macdonald ancestry and according to my pedigree there, Col. Thomas had 5 children - 1 of which was "our" John Bagnell 1639-1719!! So how accurate are peerage records?? Best.
