I believe in 1922-23 John Edmund Grainge fathered an illegitimate son - Brian Eric Jackson (born 11 January 1923). The mother was my great aunt Edith Mary Jackson. I have some evidence to support the contention, much of it involving the CWS Boot and Shoe factory in Heckmondwike where they both worked. He was married at the time to Dora Barraclough.
