We should have one of each.
A Group page for the Fan club members by invitation to only those of us that are "official OPJFC" members and a Fan page that is open for anyone that may or may not be members, to comment on the "wall". Then folks can Like either announcments by OPJFC or comments left by other fans. OPJFC: the Group page would have at least one Admin. Some Groups have several admins and officers maintaining different aspects of the page so it is not time consuming for any One person. Members can post videos or pictures or not, depending on the Admin's authorization. Kate, you could have all of the gallery up there and /or links to this site and other sites where PJ is mentioned or appearing. Then even events can have invites sent out to the members and RSVPs to respond. FB also has a chat feature and if you have grouped your 'friends' by association you can choose to be 'visible' to that group at any one time. so Say I have my OPJFC friends visible, we can IM or in the group's forum page discussions where only members can view and comment in the Discussion tab and not open to the public if so configured.
So for example the GROUP page would be OPJFC members-only, with discussions, links and pics, event invitations, etc..
The Fan Page would be open to be LIKEd and commented on by the public.
My source is from experience as an admin of a group in Facebook that has chosen to be private and joined by invitation, where members-only can view the features and discussions in the group's private forum.
