Wow, have we been having some wild weather in MI (as it seems as other states have too - glad you're ok Kate!!)
We had some pretty bad flooding in January (because the huge amounts of snow that melted in 24 hours), several homes were damaged by large, and I mean LARGE, chunks of ice that literally crashed through their foundations. (iceberg ahead!! lol!) We thought that that was the end of the story, but last week we (our city in particular) got dumped with over a foot of snow overnight, that covered the few feet still on the ground.
In the past couple days, it rained straight & heavy for about 36 hours, again melting the snow rapidly - only this time with the added water from the rain. The homes that previously flooded, were hit again! They were lucky though, as it was much worse about a half hour from here, where the flooding was so bad that people literally are getting around in boats because there are no more roads, and the sign that says "speed limit 25 mph" is about 6 inches above the water line. Crazy!!
Also, as mentioned - I wanted to let everyone know about my CaringBridge site. Since my health updates can be a bit depressing on here (at least I think so, and rather off topic!), I just wanted to let everyone know that I have a health update site that's open to the public. If you're interested - feel free to check it out at http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/southernbelle
I'd love it if you stopped by & left a greeting & thanks! They always make me smile! I try to update it whenever possible - hopefully a lot depending on how I feel.
Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their weekend!!
I'd love to hear stories of the wild weather in your area - I have a friend in Owensboro, KY who similar troubles as Kate, but was without power for 5 days. FEMA did come in and help them out, though I found it humorous that the help included food that was later recalled due to the peanut problems. It just wasn't their week!
What's been happing in your neck of the woods?
