Woke up today and there was a blizzard out (it still is!!) but we were determined to see the Cup! We waited in line about 3 hours, and by the time we got up to the front, all the players were gone (so it's a good thing we weren't going for an autograph!) because they had to get ready for the game. The guy in charge was really nice though and let me look for Paul's dad on the cup, especially since I knew the year. They even had a photo for sale of the 1953-54 Stanley Cup Champs, but his father was not in the photo. Alex Delveccio (sp?) was there earlier in the day (and played on that team) but was gone by the time that we got to front of the line. So back to me telling about my elusive search for Paul's dad on the cup - sadly, I couldn't find his name, even though I located the year right away. A search of the internet does say that it is indeed engraved on the cup; but I was a bit bummed that I didn't see it. There were 2 guys in charge, and one guy says "just take the picture and go, we've got a lot of people in line here"; and the second guy said "come on, she's looking fora name - how many times have we taken pictures of our names on the cup?" I told him it was ok though, that I was able to search the year and didn't see it, but I was still very happy to get my picture taken!
A little side note, my mom FORGOT FILM!!! We were in line about 2 1/2 hours, and I said "um, mom? I dont think the camera has any film!" (I give her one responsibility... lol) so she had to call my dad to bring her some film (in the blizzard, ha ha, luckily we live close!) when mom told the guy why she was leaving the line, he chuckled & said "I've been here all day, but that's the first time I've heard that!!" My dad got there pretty fast though & mom loaded the camera. Since it's a new roll, it will be a bit before I actually have the pics, but I'll post when available!
