Thoughts on microchipping pups

I have read pro's and cons on microchipping puppies and I am wondering what everyone's thoughts are on the matter? Is this something that you do before the pups leave or do you have it in the contract that it must be done by a certain age?
Its important to me that any pups we may produce have identification and I am researching the best approach. Thanks for your input

We microchip all our pups and we also id stamp their ears. We keep all those details in our name so the pup will always be traceable back to us even if the microchip info is changed to the new owners.

Hi Marian, we also microchip the pups with six weeks when they get their first vaccination, no problems! We will put the chip number in the passport and in the contract so the pup can be identified.

Hi,

here all puppies are microchipped at the age of 8 weeks old ( time they get their 2nd shot )and as well chiropractical tested.
Never had bad experiences and overhere it is a standard procedure.

I have debated several times to Micro Chip my pups, but some people don't want it or rather their own vet do it. Also had a few pups go over seas so they needed a special micro chip that my old vet did not have. My vet now only carriers the brand that is Internationally excepted but it is kind of pricey, $75.

Life is to good to be bothered by ignorant people.

When I got my 1st dog 15 years ago, I got him microshipped since in Switzerland tattoing was already forbiden.
All my dogs have always had a microship, and I will microship the puppies I have short before 8 weeks old.
Where I live, you have to have your dog microshiped for about 6 years now, and in the whole country for about 4 years.

Never had any problem with this.

We are doin it with our pups at eight weeks old before they leave us. At this time they get their first vaccinations and the microchip.
Here in Germany it is not allowed to sell a pup without a microchip, so the breeder is responsible for that.

That's why we have the microchip number written in the pet passport and for sure in our contract. And that's why we need that number written on our papers. We as breeders need to proof that all our puppies are chipped when they leave us.

I think it is the best way for all involved, so there could be no doubt about the origin of any pup.

We also chip the puppies at 6 weeks with their 1st vaccination, it common hier. In spring 2012 it is requird to do it. The governement wants to stop the illigal dog breeding. They hope this way it will end it.

Have it in the contract to get them Microchipped and then have them send you proof it was done. That is what I had to do with mine.

Don’t know really why

everyone here does it this way so its more a common thing
