X-ray Evaluation Change

Hip Evaluations

The LBA will be simplifying our hip scores in the interest of clarity.

As we are a U.S. registry, from this date on (March 10th, 2012) we will provide OFA evaluation grades only. No more FCI letter grades will be given.

I believe our European breeders will learn to appreciate getting a grade that directly states the hip condition.

We will continue to list the hip grades of your dog’s ancestors on our pedigrees. We will list them in number form because of space limitations. The numbers will correspond to the following grade.

0 - Excellent
1 - Good
2 - Fair
3 - Borderline
4 - Mild
5 - Moderate
6 - Severe

Mild is the worst hip score that will be approved for breeding.

As Mild is the threshold where hip displasia is present, dogs with a Mild rating must be bred to a dog with Excellent, Good or Fair hips.
