Started mine by getting up early and walking shelter dogs on this day that gets few volunteers.
I spent the last three days at a big, local agility show. Brought my dog to desensitize her to the big distractions there. Each day we practiced OB in the area between the two working competition rings.
No Bulldogs competed but a few Pugs did. One of the fastest dogs was a Dutch Shepherd/Staffy Bull cross. He was a superb competitor with an excellent handler. This dog and a number of other non AKC dogs competed under the AKC Canine Partners registry program. LB's can register this way and join in the competition. I learned that many Flyball dogs are purpose bred cross-breeds just like the Staffy Bull/Dutchie. They are bred to work and suceed...

Hope you have a great year DL!!!!!
I have lots on this years "to do" list and some high hopes!!!
You mentioned some of the dog be purpose bred and you see that alot in hog dogs and other hunting/sport dogs. I've seen so nice looking APBT x Greyhound crosses for sight hunting.
Happy New Year!!!

Great way to start the year!
I've seen some videos with staffie/border collie cross for Flyball. Incredibly fast!
I wish you a lot of training time and competing in 2012 with Bess.
Thank You David :-)

That sounds great David - I wanted to say Thank you for the NY times magazine we got it two days ago. It was a great read. Thank you for taking the time to send it to us.
We spent our New Years Day out with the dogs this morning, then we went up to the farm up the road to see some lambs being born which was lovely!
The working sheep dogs were so impressive - I love to watch the trails on the T.V but seeing them today was wonderful - They were each told to sit and stay for the afternoon on hay bales and watch over the sheep, despite the people about and kids coming over to say hi they stayed there and waited to be told what to do next.
