I would like to thank everybody, especially the cook teams, who came out this weekend to support the first ever BMW BBQ & Bands Picnic. Thankfully, the weather cooperated and the rain held off until just after awards.
A big shout out and congratulations to all teams who received a call!
The teams provided award winning BBQ for not only the judges but also to the BMW MC Associates and their family members. I received nothing but great compliments on the BBQ. Well done teams!
We had a good mixture of teams who compete regularly and several teams competing in their first ever event. It was amazing to see how some of our regular competing teams worked with the new teams, especially Dozed & B’Qued and Backwoods Bar-B-Que. It just goes to show you, the SCBA is one big family; regardless, if you’ve been involved in the organization for years or if you just became part of the SCBA family this weekend.
I’d also like to thank Chad Carter, with Commando BBQ, for all the help on Friday and Wayne Preston, with Bucky’s Bar-B-Q, for sourcing and delivering the meat.
As a first time organizer, I can tell you, it takes a lot of work and team effort to pull off an event of this magnitude, especially at a major corporation such as BMW MC. With that being said, I have to thank Don Adkins, SCBA Vice President, who was the Marshal and George Dowling, who was the Assistant Marshal for the event. Don’s experience was invaluable to helping cover any details I may have overlooked and George is quickly becoming a great Marshal. Thanks guys!
BMW MC is hoping to make this an annual event so we’ll be looking at how we can improve to make it even bigger and better for the teams, judges and Associates in 2020.
I’m sure I’m probably forgetting somebody so please forgive me and I thank you all once again.
Thanks Brian, I loved this event. The late turn-in made it a lot of fun to have a group breakfast and lunch. Not to mention plenty of sleep on Friday night. I look forward to next year. I hope it happens.

This was a great first time event and I look forward to this again next year. The late turn in times made for a wonderful change of pace. You did a phenomenal job in every aspect! I feel like your experience with SCBA made it easier as an event organizer. You made it look easy anyway. Thanks for all you do!
