i wanted to say thank you to the SCBA for putting on this class for the cook teams. JT "Just Teaching" Handy, Gene and Tesa Culbertson did a great job showing us newer teams how to make better BBQ. And isn't that what the SCBA is all about? Behind the scenes were Ken and Dawn (sporting some nice aprons) and Steve Meadows (Mr. SC BBQ!) helping pull this off. The SCBA open judging was a nice addition (thanks Judges) It was good having James there with a great selection of "Best in Class Rubs, sauces and other secret weapons. SC has the best BBQ in the land and it because of these great people and this great organization.. My overall impression of the class was a 2.0! with a total score of 17!!! Hopefully I don't qualify next year but if I do...I will be there!
Well said!! I am thankful and appreciative all of the time and effort the SCBA volunteers put into this free class. JT, Gene and Tesa cooking all night to prepare the meats meats, and Ken, Dawn and Steve getting up really early to drive to Columbia. Lots of cooking and cleaning up afterwards. All to teach a bunch of their competitors how to make better BBQ! That is what makes SCBA a phenomenal group and I'm really happy to be a part of it.
Competitions are long nights and hard work. Classes like this remind me what a great Fellowship we have. I'm excited and looking forward to another fun season of competitions. And I also agree with David in that I hopefully don't qualify to take the class next year (but I'd be happy to help out if they need it).
I also meant to mention that I really liked the addition of the Judging session! It was good to see how they judge and for them to answer our questions about the judging process. Thank you Judges for joining us and helping make SCBA better.
I sould not have been surprized at the amount of info that was shared with us at the cook school Saturday, but I must admit,I was. J T and Gene are winners for years now and are willing to do this class every year. My hats go off to them for taking this on. I have been cooking over 10 years now but still picked up many tips to incorporate into our coking process. Thanks to JT, Gene, and all the crew for putting this on. Also thanks to the SCBA for their huge part in making this happen. --Previous Message-- : i wanted to say thank you to the SCBA for : putting on this class for the cook teams. : JT "Just Teaching" Handy, Gene and : Tesa Culbertson did a great job showing us : newer teams how to make better BBQ.
