Don, What would it take to set up a separate discussion/BBQ Forum? The message board, as pointed out previously, is for messages. It is obvious that many people want to discuss and an open forum would be separate. I'll even volunteer to moderate if it is feasible.

Not sure if this was aimed at me but I'll answer with my thoughts. For something like what you are asking for then I would suggest a closed facebook group. Creating a second account with the people that host the message board might be an option. The facebook route you would have the ability to upload pictures to help with a discussion. Our church has a membership closed group and it works very well.

Friends, it is my experience that discussion boards start off with good intentions and end up, sometimes rather quickly or other times over a longer period, as unpopular. The reason seem to be to be that people, obviously, want to discuss a topic when it is fresh and new (let's say "hot") and they generate "hot" comments. Soon misunderstandings arise, feelings are hurt, friendships strained and names called.
I've seen discussion boards among academics who are used to writing for peer review quarterlies that are written with great care and specifically in ways so as not to offend. Despite the writers best efforts, those opinions often lead to personally harmful comments.
It's a free country (or at least it use to be), so anyone may do anything they like but the SCBA will help in this effort by refusing to support it or sponsor it in any way. That's the best thing we can do to help with the good will and friendship that has been established across our state over the years.

If we are not supposed to have these kind of conversation on the message board then where and how can cookers express there thoughts and feelings on issues?
