Cheraw State Park 100 State Park RD Cheraw, South Carolina The Chesterfield County Q-Cup is on Oct 4th with a morning judging. Judging begins at 10 am (9:50 am first turn-in time) and all judges are to report Cheraw State Park no later than 8:50 am. We will be judging one category for this event. Pork Butts. Judges will assemble at the boat dock shelter which is near the cooking teams. If you have signed up and cannot attend, please let me know. The judges meeting will be held at 9am. If you haven’t already done so, please let me know before the event if you are earning an apron or hat.
Please note that at the last Marshal’s meeting we were asked to tell our judges that they should not take pictures of the turn-in boxes at the table with their cell phone or camera. Also, please do not socialize with the cookers before the judging which is the time that they are at their busiest getting their boxes ready. After the judging is over you may certainly go see your cooker friends at their tents. When you do visit cookers please do not discuss any of the judging that was conducted by either you or at your table.
This first time festival is going to be easy to find since it is at a well-marked SC State Park just outside of Cheraw, SC. The address for Google Maps is 100 Cheraw State Park Road, Cheraw, SC 29530.If you are coming from south of the city (say from Columbia) you will be coming on US 1 and a few miles before your get to Cheraw you will turn right onto SC Highway 52 South. From that right turn it is only about one mile to Cheraw State Park Road. Turn right onto State Park Road and go to the first stop sign and turn left and go to the lake which is where the event will be held. Please note. My MapQuest gave the wrong directions!
