As of this past Friday, the organizer had received only two paid applications.
With the event only three weeks away, they had very little communications with any other teams, therefore; they weren't anticipating too many more teams, if any, were going to sign-up.
I understand that teams are waiting later and later to submit their applications because if I were cooking, I too would prefer to hold onto my money as long as possible. Unfortunately, if most teams wait to send their applications until a couple of weeks prior to the event deadline, it puts a lot of pressure on the organizer on whether or not they'll have their minimum number of teams for the event to proceed or not.
If a team is planning to participate but plans to send their application within a couple of weeks prior to the deadline, please reach out to the organizer and let them know of your planned participation and when you plan to send your application. This will at least give the organizer an approximation of how many teams they can expect. It will also help the Marshal determine how many judges will be needed so they can pull from the waiting list, providing those judges with sufficient notice. Previous Message
