A big shout out to all the cook teams and judges that participated in the 11 Annual Pickin’ & Piggin’ in the Park. I want to thank everyone for a very successful event. We could not have pulled it off with each and every one of you folks. A big thanks to Jim Wellman for having us again this year, he always takes such good care of the cook teams and judges.
Our first-place winner in the Butts category was Backwoods Bar-B-Que and the second place winner Monkey Bottom Boys, both scoring a 16+. In the first time ever “Mustard Based” Butts category the first place went to Ultimate Tailgaters. Congratulations to all that got a call!
A special thanks to the judges that performed these special assignments for me: Rod Nixon, Assistant Marshal (who did an excellent job); Vincent Latten, Shadowing the Marshal; Mike Sexton, who wore several hats for me Calculator and Official Photographer; My table captains: Danny Watts, Helen Hall, Gene Benfield, and Michael Bohm; Receiving Table, Steve Ginsberg and Susan Straub; My Runner Director Doug Jaquays; and to the folks that helped me as runners.
