Attention Cook Teams. Gaston’s Collard and Barbeque Festival is right around the corner, Sept 30-Oct 1. Gaston is a well-run contest with nice facilities for 20 teams conveniently located in the middle of the state. Last year there were 16 teams. Entry fee is $150 first prize will be $1,000. Butts are scheduled and of course the teams may opt to add ribs. Friday night there will be the Anything with Collards contest, entry fee is $20. Teams will not disperse BBQ samples they will take butts to the kitchen area where the volunteers will sell BBQ plates which should give the contest a better return for their efforts and investment. The awards ceremony will be held earlier than the published time, 2:30PM, assuming no unforeseen delays. Good news for USC fans if the game is a night one.
