To me this makes absolute perfect sense. Competition BBQ has come so far since the SCBA was started. We have a great group of judges and a lot of great cooks too. I'm proud to be apart of this outfit but now I want to become a certified judge so I can learn how to cook the finest swine! No copycats I just trade marked that! Someone call Gary I got a new team name! Need money for shirts! Good luck to everyone this weekend!

: You are completely right and I totally agree
: with you. There is no need to make
: something complicated that is supposed to be
: a fun hobby. As you said start with the
: mindset that you may possibly give a box a
: score of 17 and judge it honestly without
: worrying about what somebody might say.
: Nobody should dictate how you should judge
: or score a box. Isn't it supposed to be
: blind judging?

: Why do you need an average(cheat)sheet to
: judge BBQ? Does it not make more sense to
: start at 17 when we sit down at the table
: and wait until we open the box to start
: judging? It' not a crime to score an awesome
: box of Q a 17, the world will not come to an
: end.
: We as cookers spend a lot of money to do
: this as a hobby, but we all want to win
: every weekend! For me I just ask for an
: honest fair opinion of my turn in that day,
: not an average of years of turn in numbers.
: The SCBA is a great organization that I have
: cooked in over 100 comps and will continue
: to do so, we have a lot of great judges and
: great cook teams that I am proud to be a
: part of.
: Just remember "IT'S JUST BBQ" it's
: not brain surgery!
