IMPORTANT REMINDERS:
1. If you have a family member cooking with a team at this event, you are not able to judge. We have other areas where you can help.
2. No fraternizing with the cookers prior to judging. A friendly good morning or good luck as you pass by is ok but do not linger in the cooking area.
3. Be in your seat away from direct line of sight of the receiving table no later than 10 minutes before the first horn 9:40 – 9:45. Some cook teams arrive at the receiving table several minutes before the first horn and your table captain may have last minute information to pass along.
4. ABSOLUTELY no talking or discussions amongst the Judges about the samples you are judging from the time the first horn blows until after the score sheets have been collected and turned in. The table captains will open and facilitate post judging table discussion.
5. After judging is completed and Judges are released, you are free to mingle with the cook teams and encouraged to visit everyone but PLEASE BE CAREFUL what you discuss. Innocent comments about what took place can have unintended negative effects so it’s best to refrain from discussing your scores and opinions of this event or commenting on pictures teams show you of their turn in boxes.
6. If you wish to have an extended visit with or help a cook team after judging, please remove your hat and apron.
If you signed up we count on you arriving on time. If your schedule changes please let us know so we can extend an opportunity to another judge. If you are running late or get lost please call, so we can get you to the event and or reassign your duties as needed. We look forward to seeing you at the High on the Hog BBQ Cook-off.
In addition, there is an Anything Butt contest on Friday night with turn in currently scheduled for 7:00 pm. If you would like to come Friday night, you are more than welcome, just send me an email and let me know you are coming.
