Friday night saw a little sprinkling of rain but the major rain held off until about 7:45 so most of the event was fine. On Saturday the weather was picture perfect and the Cheraw State Park, which is the oldest state park in South Carolina, was the ideal location. One team cooker even told me that next year he plans to bring his whole family and camp out and spend an extra day fishing with his family in that gorgeous pond they have there.
A big thanks goes out to Donna Johnson for all her hard work. Also thanks to Mike Sexton for his invaluable help as Assistant Marshal and Christie Sexton for her quick work as our calculator. Dan Shine and Greg Gladney were a big help in handling the Table Captain duties.
The pay-out for first place was $1,250 and since the Chesterfield Q-Cup paid out five places two local teams carried home checks as well as trophies.
The staff at the Cheraw Park was a big help to all including even the grueling duty of judging at the Wing Ding on Friday night. It’s a tough job but somebody has to do it.
A good time was had by all!
