It is with deep regret that I announce the passing of the founder of the Maulding BBQ Cook-Off and one of our Senior Judges, GABE HUNTER. Gabe was the one of the kindest, gentlest, and a true friend to all that knew him. Gabe was truly a "Gentle Giant"! In addition to being a Senior SCBA Judge, Gabe was a City Councilman for the City of Mauldin, SC.
Gabe worked relentlessly on the Mauldin BBQ Festival committee which meets monthly and even weekly the last few months before the event. Gabe was active this last weekend at the BBQ Cook-Off and Family Fun Festival making sure everything was running smoothly. Prayers for his wife, Beverly, and his family are appreciated. I for one, am in shock and cannot believe I have lost this dear friend way too soon.
