We're all looking forward to the Marion County Independence Day Celebration! The truly unique event will take place at Smith-Haven Park, 207 Buck Street in Mullins on FRIDAY AFTERNOON, JULY 4TH. We will be judging BBQ RIBS ONLY, prepared by some of the best cook teams on the circuit who will be competing for $3250 in prizes as well as for points and trophy plaques.
Judging will take place in the Jitterbug Juke Joint adjacent to the Park. Judges parking will be at the Jitterbug and also beside and behind Mullins Discount Drug, 310 S. Main Street.
The event will open to the public at 4:00pm, with our judges meeting starting promptly at 6:00pm followed by turn-in/judging at 7:00pm. If you are receiving a hat or an apron, please contact me as soon as possible so we can make sure we're ready for you this coming Friday.
This will be a family event with bouncy houses and slides, pony rides and a petting zoo all free for the kids, live music from the stage and various vendors at this afternoon and evening event. There will be a formal military retreat ceremony (lowering and folding of the US Flag) The night will end with a "BANG" when Marion County's impressive Fourth of July fireworks display will take place.
Thanks, and we're looking forward to seeing all of ya'll and your families Friday afternoon July 4th in Mullins!
