Once again, it was my distinct honor and privilege to represent the SCBA as Marshal of Pig in the Park BBQ Festival and Cook-Off in Williamston. I always enjoy working with the Masons of Masonic Lodge #24. Van Ellison, W L Cantrell and all the Masons worked hard to put on one of the best events on the SCBA calendar. The SCBA appreciates the opportunity to partner with them each year by providing the judging of some really great BBQ.
A big thank you to all SCBA judges that took time out of their busy schedules to participate in this 5th Annual event, with several traveling from bordering states or driving across SC to be there. We had a great weekend of BBQ and fellowship as twenty cook teams competed for $2900 in prize money, trophies, MBA points and free entry in next year’s event.
Thank you to my team of Bill Walsh, Assistant Marshal, Don Adkins, Upstate District Marshal, Judi Lindsey and Teena Bohm on calculations. An experienced team makes all the difference in assuring everything goes smoothly at an event. I appreciate everyone that worked as Table Captains, Novice Table Captain, Receivers, Runners and grazing table set-up. Mike Horne always does a fine job of taking great photos and then posting them on the SCBA website.
Congratulations to Up in Smoke on their win and to all the teams that got the call. The names, along with pictures of all the teams that placed in the top 10 are posted here on the SCBA website.
Everyone involved in this event helped to make it a success and made my job as event Marshal very enjoyable!
