Another season of hope and expectation. For me it has to be the title we're playing for, anything else just won't wash.
We are one of the twelve founders of the Football League, the first team to win the FA Cup as a second division team, invited to open Barca's ne ground in what was it 1922 23 after reaching the semi-finals of the FA Cup in 1921. Signed England's greatest ever centre-forward as a third tier club and he still played 4 more games for his country. Were the team invited to open Juve's new stadium, not Real Madrid or Manchester United but Notts County.
This season we must go up.
Except I can't see it. We have not signed a goal scorer to go with the oft misfiring Wootton. We seem to have bought youth again over experience.
Employing a set-piece specialist when the money could have been better spent on a goal scorer says we have our priorities all wrong. What's worse, he comes from a 4th tier Swedish village team, a village with the population of just over 500.
What on earth will the 40 year old Doyle think about it. I wonder how long he will stay around for?
I've lost faith with these owners, they're treating Notts as their play thing, a toy, as they said, they have always wanted to own a football club and as far as I can see, they are using Notts to see out their fantasy.
Speak to most people about this league and they say the same thing, it is , "bite, b*llocks and kick" and Notts have just not recruited along those lines at all. I sincerely hope I'm wrong. We'll win more than we'll lose, but I don't think we'll win the title.
If we can't beat Barnet by at least two clear goals, what can we do? Foxies says, he's staying in his kennel.
I am not convinced about our possibilities either. I feared that the play-offs this season would be asking too much. Now I understand that there is an extension to the play-of candidates with two more teams, so I think we will grab a play-off spot. The reason for my negative approach to this season is the slow but defininate decline we have been suffering the past four or five seasons. Don’t put any money on us a title winners, Maggie. Like you say, Maggie: Prove me wrong, please!
Mr M's speech reminds me of the famous Alan Hansen one on Man Utd " you win nothing with kids".
Disappointed that Ellis didn't join us but I'm more hopeful of success this season under IB than I ever was under NA.
Pre-season friendlies have been pretty much as Notts usually do so only real positive was the comeback draw with 10 men at Solihull.
Will County win the division? I hope so but it will be tough.
Mr M pointed out we haven't signed a proven striker but I have faith in the other attackers & midfielders getting more than their share as we will be a more balanced & dangerous side if only due to not having carry Enzio.
Greetings all and looking forward to the new season. What do I male of it? Well not sure to be honest. On one hand building for the future on the other hand not much grit which we all know is what we need in this league. Not sure about Stockport and Wrexham, yes they have signed a goalscorer to be honest not much else to be honest. Think we have a chance but only a short one if we can get off to a good start for a change. Here is hoping and praying anyway. Bees 0 Flying Magpies 4.
Regards to all from a lockdowned NZ.
Foxie sorry but your fellow animal Zoe passed away a couple of weeks ago. Stay fit and get your master to take you for plenty of walks
Well Mr magpie might have hit it right if these guys are stats men they seem to have missed part of the print out.Notts don't always fair well against this lot so it's time to wheel out the old 1-1
