Re: THE TITLE CHASING MAGGIES v The U's
I can hear the strains of 'football's coming home' all over again at the first hint of good fortune. Yes, Vaughan is a good player - everyone says he's still capable of playing at a higher level and the newbies look sound investments but the pressure is on us in the same way as it was on England as soon as they won a game. This doesn't help. As for today, Nolan's warm-up routine of splitting his squad to be in two places at once pre-season and not fielding his best team in total anywhere means they'll do what they did last time out and start slowly as they get to know each other. I know the whole squad needs to be involved from the off but it might have been better to play his starting 11 a little more so they could get to know each other. Dropping points at home first out is not a promising start for a team that needs to aim high to achieve what's been promised on this board. At least it should dampen down the overly optimistic. The fourth division is and always will be a bloody battleground.there won't be any outright winners early doors.
