(Side note: As a fundraiser for the next 50 years of the STC, the banner you see in the pic was auctioned off after the dinner. 3 of my friends - who obviously have a LOT more money than I do - ended up buying it for $35,000!!!! The goal for the night was to raise $50k and they ended up exceeding that goal when they "passed the pot" around the room....)
I can truly say that the KY State 4-H Teen Council changed my life. Serving on it introduced me to whole new possibilities and gave me the confidence & strength that have carried me thru the past 47 years since we were last together.
Oh.... and I looked GOOD! :-) I sent a pic to my niece & she said I was giving off "Stevie Nicks vibes" - LOL! That works for me - Stevie Nicks rocks!!!
p.s. I still have my jacket. Doesn't fit & it's ragged around the edges but it's precious to me. And apparently I'm not alone, several others "of my vintage" actually brought their jackets with them last night & were carrying them around like the sacred relics that they are!
I didn't make it onto the Jumbotron but two of the pics they did use were ones that I had taken which was pretty cool!
One of my best friends. We met in June of 1980 when I started my first term on the STC and became instant friends and that hasn't changed over the years. She's still the sister I never had. We were in each other's weddings & we've been thru everything life can throw at us together.
Oh... and at the end of the official program, a number of us of the late 70's/early 80's vintage just may have rushed the stage, seized the microphone and led the group (at least those who knew) in a rowdy rendition of "Rosie's House of Sin" (a little song that we sang for years & years for Rosie, one of our favorite council members). LOL.
One of the younger "has beens" (That's what we all called ourselves when our terms ended because it was better to be a "has been" than a "never was") told a friend that they wished their group had been as "feral" as we were! ROFLMAO! I've never thought of our shenanigans as "feral" but... I guess being feral really was pretty awesome!
