The zero turn.... well.... I haven't ended up in the hospital yet!!! But I've been making some questionable (and very scary) decisions on getting into various areas. I had to do something though - the grass on the hill below the garage was almost up to my waist!
And you can't go across a hillside - you can only go up or down. And when I'd go down, it was a wild crazy sliding ride completely out of control - just aim for clear area & hope for the best. So I did a lot of crawl up the hill, mowing along the way, and then try to go wide & slide down to the bottom and start over....
At least I didn't run out of gas this time....
It's been crazy here. Spent one day last weekend up on the banks of the Ohio with T & Meg and her family. I love her family... they haven't jsut adopted T - they've adopted me too. I came home with a car full of flowers for Mother's Day.... T & Meg got me a little potted plant, Jeff (Meg's Dad) brought me an Asiatic lily for the flower beds, and Julie (Meg's mom) gave me a HUGE gorgeous hanging basket for the deck.
Monday I had a dentist appt.
Tuesday, I spent the morning making individual cheesecakes & then took them out to the big commercial frig at the club. One of the other ladies met me out there & we cleaned. And cleaned. And cleaned. And threw crap out that was over 20 years old. Whew...
Wednesday, I baked cookies to go along with the cheesecakes.
Thursday, I helped with the shotgun class for executives from the company that owns the Wild Turkey distillery here. Ran home after that & got a quick nap before heading back out to the club to help cook up dinner and represent the ladies group in committee reports to the board & club members.
Friday, I had to run a few errands. Then came back & hit the zero turn. Four hours later, everything that I can even remotely safely mow was mowed. And I was EXHAUSTED.
Saturday, I hurt in every muscle in my body from being bounced around & trying to hang onto the zero turn. A lot of those areas I got into were ROUGH. But I maxed out on my arhtritis meds because I had pistol training with the ladies in the afternoon. I've gotten proficient enough with my .22 that the fella instructing us wants me going back to the 9mm next time. ***sigh*** Hopefulyl working with the .22 has gotten me past the "flinch" that kept me off target all last fall.
Today has been weed eating & cutting the daffodils that have died back out of the flower beds. Started deadheadig the irises & meant to move some more today but it just got too hot... Oh and I picked up my first tick of the year. Sucker was dug in good on my side - it HURT getting him loose!
Tomorrow is my follow up with the rheumatologist to see if she has any suggestions for the arthritis that I'm not already doing. Fingers crossed. (Getting old sucks.) Going to try to at least get the deadheading done in the morning before it heats up again.
And Tuesday, the 4 of us leading the ladies group are meeting to plan out the next few months: catering the IMHSA (international handgun finals - a 7 day event our club is hosting), preparing a proposal to the board for requesting donations for local teachers/classrooms, planning a Women on Target event for September (need sponsors, volunteers, advertising, etc.), and scheduling future clubhouse cleaning (the Ladies agreed to do it for $100/month & it's taking all hands on deck to get it where we can even begin doing regular maintenance cleaning).
We're also considering taking over the club sponsored youth deer hunt. The lady who's been doing it always claims she's too busy & then handpicks 3 or 4 kids for it. Y'all, we used to send out up to 20 kids a year!!! And there are kids wanting to hunt - she's just too lazy to get the word out & make the arrangements.... (Don't even get me started!!!!)
I'm not sure what's on schedule for the rest of the week but I know I'm heading down towards Somerset Saturday evening for a housewarming party & then back up the river either Sunday or Monday...
Oh and I had my arm twisted enough to agree to going to the Kentucky State Teen Council 50th Reunion Bash on the 30th... I served back in the early 1980's for several years. Hadn't planned on going but old friends started blowing up my phone, messenger, and texts until I agreed to go. I hope they're prepared to deal with crocodile tears... And now I've gotta find soem sort of "cocktail attrire" to wear to the darned thing. UGH!!!!!
p.s. Current weight loss is right at 50 lbs. And my pants keep fallng off. Unless I'm in leggings, it's a problem & most of them don't have pockets AND I GOTTA HAVE POCKETS!!!!! Still hoping to knock out at least another 50 lbs over the next year. Planning to get my bloodwork run (at my own expense) in June to see if all this is doing any good. Fingers crossed!
