Only way I ever fixed rabbit was in a crockpot with potatoes & carrots. I assume you were frying it?
I had to laugh about the buckshot. My brother got a turkey one year & insisted on hosting Thanksgiving dinner for the 1st time. Now his wife was (and is) all about appearances so the table was immaculately set, she turned off all the lights so all we could see was by candlelight. It was truly a beautiful setting. Until we tried to eat that bird. Not only was the meat tough and STRINGY but it was chock full of buckshot! I thnk I spit out 10 pieces in like 2 bites before giving up. Dad actually broke one of his few remaining teeth about 3 bites in. And mom refused to even try it. The evening went over like a lead balloon... I don't think they ever hosted another family meal after that!!!
I wonder if my brother ever did learn to get the buckshot out? A few years after that, I stopped by just as they were getting ready to eat & tried a couple bits of barbecued racoon (don't knock it til you've tried it - it delicious!) and it too was full of buckshot... No wonder my poor niece had so many health issues with all that lead in her diet!!!!
